Wagamama, a popular pan-Asian restaurant operator, has announced a partnership with Travel Food Services (TFS), India’s travel food and retail company, to enter the Indian market. With this expansion, Wagamama will operate in 19 countries worldwide.
The restaurant operator plans to open its first Indian restaurant at Mumbai Airport’s International Terminal, with ambitions for further expansion in transport hubs across India. Mumbai, being India’s financial hub and a major connectivity point to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, is considered an ideal location for introducing Wagamama to new customers as well as travelers familiar with the brand.
Talking about the new partnership, Thomas Heier, CEO, Wagamama, said, “We are delighted to enter India later this year through our partnership with Travel Food Services, bringing our pan-Asian cuisine to a market where we anticipate significant demand. Wagamama, established in 1992, is a pan-Asian casual dining brand in the United Kingdom. The brand is committed to menu innovation and food quality, ensuring a consistent experience for every guest. The brand’s signature dishes include grilled chicken ramen, firecracker, and chicken katsu curry. Wagamama also caters to a range of dietary preferences, with plant-based options making up 50% of the menu.
