Amazon has officially announced its entry into the quick-commerce segment with the launch of a 15-minute delivery service, debuting in Bengaluru later this month. The move positions India as the first global market for this rapid delivery initiative, reflecting the company’s focus on catering to the evolving needs of urban consumers.
Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President for India and Emerging Markets at Amazon, shared the company’s vision for the service, stating, “Our goal remains the same, which is that we want to offer the largest selection of products to the largest customer base at the fastest speeds. We do recognise that our urban customer base is keen on getting a small selection of products, mostly everyday essentials, delivered faster.”
Although the official name of the service has not yet been disclosed, the initial offering will feature 1,000–2,000 everyday essentials for rapid delivery. Amazon plans to roll out the service in Bengaluru first, with gradual expansion to other cities.
This marks a significant step for Amazon in the competitive quick-commerce space, making it the second major e-commerce player to offer ultra-fast delivery in India.
