Zomato’s quick-commerce arm, Blinkit, has launched Bistro, a new platform aimed at delivering snacks, meals, and beverages in just 10 minutes. The launch on December 6, 2024, follows closely on the heels of Zepto’s introduction of Zepto Cafe, intensifying competition in the instant food delivery market.
Currently available on the Google Play Store, Bistro plans to expand to the Apple App Store soon. This marks Zomato’s second foray into instant food delivery after its earlier venture, Zomato Instant, was discontinued.
The quick food delivery segment is heating up, with players like Swiggy’s Swiggy Bolt and Zepto Cafe focusing on ready-to-eat items like sandwiches, samosas, pastries, and coffee, rather than full meals. Blinkit’s pivot towards food delivery reflects the growing trend of quick-commerce companies diversifying beyond groceries to tap into new revenue streams.
