D-Mart Appoints Unilever’s Anshul Asawa as CEO Designate Amid Leadership Reshuffle

Must Read

Avenue Supermarts, the parent company of retail giant D-Mart, has announced a significant leadership transition with the appointment of Anshul Asawa as CEO Designate. Asawa, currently the Country Head of Unilever Thailand and General Manager for the Home Care business in Greater Asia, will assume the role on March 15, 2025.

This change comes as the incumbent Managing Director and CEO, Neville Noronha, prepares to step down when his term concludes in January 2026. Noronha, who has been with D-Mart since 2004, has played a pivotal role in its growth from a modest five-store operation to a leading supermarket chain with over 380 outlets.

The Board of Directors lauded Noronha’s contributions, stating, “The Board honours his decision and expresses profound gratitude for his extraordinary contribution to the company.”

Anshul Asawa, an alumnus of IIT Roorkee and IIM Lucknow, brings a wealth of experience from his 30-year career at Unilever, where he spearheaded business growth across India, Asia, and Europe.

To ensure a seamless transition, Noronha will work closely with Asawa over the coming year. Asawa is slated to officially take over as MD and CEO on February 1, 2026.
