Must Read

Flipkart has made significant strides in its sustainability efforts, as announced on its social media platforms.

Highlighting the company’s sustainable initiatives, Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, posts on his social media handle, ‘‘At Flipkart, we are proud of our commitment to the future of our planet. By spearheading sustainable initiatives, we’re nurturing a culture of environmental consciousness and responsibility among our workforce and across our value chain. Together, we can effect real change and pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future.’’

Some of the key milestones of their sustainable journey are:

  • They have eliminated single-use plastic from their supply chain
  • They have adopted recycled paper bags and eco-friendly materials such as carton-waste shredded material, eco-friendly paper shreds, and 2-ply rolls in their supply chain operations.
  • Their delivery fleet is transitioning to 100% EVs in a phased manner
  • Last year, they launched #FlipkartGreen, a virtual store aimed at offering sustainable products to customers who want to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. They initiated this concept in partnership with the brands.
  • Recently, they took conscious and concrete steps to address the alarming water crisis and growing landfills in India by recycling over 67 million liters of wastewater and diverting approximately 3000 tonnes of non-hazardous solid waste away from landfills in one year.

Through these initiatives, Flipkart has showcased its dedication to sustainability, fostering environmental consciousness and responsibility throughout the organization and its value chain, and its commitment to the planet’s future.
