Godrej Vikhroli Cucina, a media platform created by Godrej Industries for food enthusiasts, professionals, and influencers, recently hosted the launch of the Godrej Food Trends Report 2024 at the Godrej La’ Affaire 2024 event.  The Godrej Food Trends Report 2024 brought together over 190 thought leaders from various culinary backgrounds, including celebrity chefs, bloggers, and nutritionists. They collectively shared their insights on the comprehensive trends highlighted in the report.

Tanya Dubash, Executive Director & Chief Brand Officer, Godrej Industries Limited, unveiled the seventh edition of the report at the event. Food enthusiasts and actor Malaika Arora were among the attendees, and joined other participants keen on exploring the exciting trends shaping the future of food.

The report, themed ‘Provenance’, looks at India’s diverse food culture and explores the origins of ingredients and culinary practices across the country. The report takes a deep dive into the richness and variety of Indian cuisine, while also tracing the origins of our food. Under its theme, the report emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices to safeguard culinary traditions. Besides, it sheds light on conscientious consumers who value transparency and authenticity and prefer products that uphold the journey from farm to plate.

Commenting on the 2024 edition of the report, Dubash  said, “The Godrej Food Trends Report 2024 marks another milestone in our quest to start conversations and identify trends in the food industry. Consumers are getting savvier about their diets, focusing on mindful nutrition. Some key insights from the Godrej Foods Trends Report 2024 are:

  • Authentic cuisine will drive travel experiences: Experts forecast that 92.3% of travelers will join culinary site tours to enrich their travels through authentic culinary encounters. 
  • Bespoke cocktails will raise the bar: Experts reveal that in 2024 the cocktail segment will see a rise due to dedicated menus, and Indian-origin spirits, experiencing an 82.7% surge.
  • Chocolate will become a sophisticated affair: Indian chocolatiers are increasingly showcasing the unique nuances of Provenance by skillfully combining locally-grown, high-quality, cocoa beans. Experts note a remarkable surge of 94.2% in artisanal chocolates as a result.
  • K-food will become mainstream: Korean culture has been garnering a cult with its bold flavours and diverse dishes. Korean restaurants will see significant traction, with concepts like teppanyaki, robata, and ramen becoming increasingly prevalent.
  • Ghee will rise again: From health-conscious millennials to flavour-driven foodies, ghee, with its natural goodness, will have a renewed appeal with an 84.6% surge, taking inspiration from the culinary heritage. 
  • Women in food will be in the spotlight: The year 2024 will illuminate the pivotal role of women in the culinary landscape of India. From regional custodians to food entrepreneurs, chefs, bartenders, and brewers, women will finally get due recognition for their contribution to shaping Indian gastronomy.

Commenting on the culinary trends, Celebrity Chef Ajay Chopra said, “India’s soft power is our cuisine, its sheer diversity, and the power of our history, plurality, and continuity. So, I am happy to see it finally being valued for being authentic and unapologetically true to itself. For the longest time, we have been bombed with a generalized idea of Indian food defined by political boundaries. But whatever way you use to break it down, the context for regional cuisines will always be the geography, agriculture, climate, and culture of a place.”
