HUL appoints Vipul Mathur as Executive Director, Personal Care

Hindustan Unilever has named Vipul Mathur as the new Executive Director of Personal Care and as a Member of the Management Committee, effective June 1, 2024. He will succeed Madhusudhan Rao. Currently serving as the Head of Growth & Transformation for South Asia at Unilever, Mathur brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Mathur began his journey with HUL in 2003 as a business leadership trainee following his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management – Calcutta. Over his extensive two-decade career, he has held various positions including Brand Manager, Global Brand Leader, and Vice President for e-commerce and modern trade.

His expertise lies particularly in the personal care sector, with a focus on detergents and laundry products. Notably, Mathur led mobile marketing and rural marketing initiatives for Wheel. As Category Head, he drove the portfolio transformation program and successfully expanded the Liquids business. Following this, as a Vice President for Modern Trade and e-commerce, Mathur played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s omnichannel strategy and spearheading portfolio transformation initiatives in high-growth emerging channels.

This appointment follows recent changes in HUL’s management announced in February. Kartik Chandrasekhar, who was expected to join the HUL Management Committee as Executive Director of Personal Care, decided to depart from Unilever. Madhusudhan Rao, Executive Director of Beauty & Personal Care at HUL, was overseeing the business on an interim basis.
