Saffron & Mishri, a premium artisanal mithai brand, makde its debut in Mumbai with the launch of two stores and cafes in Mahalakshmi and Powai. Dedicated to bringing back pride in Indian Mithais and making it a preferred dessert option, the brand intends to handcraft authentic mithais with time-honoured artisanal recipes and finest ingredients. A passion project by founder, artist Gunjan Shrivastava, Saffron & Mishri has been launched with a simple mission to help people rediscover their soul through the flavors, textures and stories of Indian mithais. The journey of Saffron & Mishri began with the founder’s deep appreciation for India’s rich and diverse mithai heritage. With an insatiable curiosity and reverence for tradition, Gunjan, traversed India’s diverse regions to unearth authentic recipes, perfecting the art of mithai-making to offer an experience rich in history and taste. The magic of Saffron & Mishri lies in a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, crafted with love and respect for the authentic art of mithai-making. She also has created a range of fusion mithai, blending authentic and modern flavours, offering a refreshing twist that resonates with the next generation.

Under Gunjan’s creative vision, the brand prioritises purity, quality and ethical practices by using only the finest ingredients such as saffron, nuts, milk and other regional specialities sourced ethically from different parts of the country. 

Each cafe is designed with a warm, inviting ambience and art-inspired interiors which is an ode to traditional Indian crafts such as Banarasi and Kantha.  Consumers can dine in at the aesthetic Powai outlet’s cafe, with warm Instagram-worthy interiors featuring elegant shylights, perfect for enjoying both mithai and flavorful chaat. Meanwhile, the Mahalakshmi Experience Center features an interactive ‘Make Your Own Memories ’ (MYOM) counter, where people can indulge in interactive workshops, making for an immersive experience. Also a unique feature of this outlet is an open walk-in kitchen concept, where customers can actually see the entire process of mithai-making behind close transparent doors, reflecting the brand’s commitment to authenticity, quality and transparency.  In addition to artisans, the brand also has food scientists on board who do quality control and keep a check on ingredients and mithai, to ensure consistency in quality and taste on a large scale. Customers can also sit back and relax at their cafe which  features an open air deck.
