Must Read

New Shop, India’s leading convenience store chain with 360 outlets, including 150 formerly operated by Godfrey Phillips, has announced an ambitious expansion plan that will reshape the IT retail landscape. This strategic move will see the chain, which serves nearly 3 million customers each month, introduce THOMSON’s range of computers, tablets, and accessories across 35 cities in 18 states.

As part of this partnership, New Shop and METAVISIO-THOMSON will launch 120 “flagship experience centers” by 2027, with the first 20 centers opening their doors within this year. These state-of-the-art stores are designed to captivate India’s younger generation, providing an immersive experience with THOMSON’s innovative and affordable technology products.

This collaboration is a significant step in New Shop and METAVISIO-THOMSON’s expansion strategy, aiming for 2,000 points of sale within the next three years. The initiative aligns with the Indian government’s “Make in India” vision, reinforcing THOMSON’s position as a prominent player in the Indian IT sector.

“We are thrilled to announce that New Shop has partnered with French maker THOMSON COMPUTING/METAVISIO to launch innovative IT products through our experiential stores across 35 cities in India. We will be jointly establishing 2,000 points of sales and 120 experiential centres. Metavisio has also picked up a minority stake in New Shop,” wrote Aastha Almast, Co-founder, New Shop, on her linked account.

Metavisio manufactures the most affordable, cutting-edge laptops, starting at Rs. 14,990/- for the Indian market, which will be exclusively available at NewShop stores.
The rollout begins in October, with THOMSON notebooks set to hit New Shop shelves by the end of September. Industry insiders and tech enthusiasts can expect major announcements and updates in the coming weeks.
