Diageo India, the Indian arm of global spirits giant Diageo, has announced Praveen Someshwar as its new CEO. Someshwar will join as CEO-designate on March 1, 2024, and officially take over on April 1 from Hina Nagarajan, who will transition to Diageo’s global executive committee after four successful years leading the company.
Someshwar brings extensive experience, having served as managing director and CEO of HT Media, one of India’s largest media groups, for the past five years. Prior to that, he spent 24 years at PepsiCo, gaining expertise in consumer business leadership.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Someshwar said, “I am delighted to join Diageo, a company with iconic brands and a strong commitment to sustainable growth in India.”
Debra Crew, Diageo’s global CEO, praised Nagarajan’s leadership for driving growth and innovation at Diageo India and expressed confidence in Someshwar’s ability to lead the next phase of the company’s growth.
Someshwar’s appointment signals a new chapter for Diageo India as it continues to focus on premiumization and strategic growth in the alcobev industry.
