Spencer’s Retail launches quick delivery service ‘Jiffy’ amid market consolidation

Must Read

Spencer’s Retail Ltd, the Kolkata-based multi-format retailer, has launched its quick delivery platform, Jiffy, while streamlining its operations to focus on Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The move aligns with the growing consumer shift towards online grocery shopping and quick commerce.

Jiffy, replacing the existing Spencer’s ordering app, will offer 30-minute on-demand and slotted deliveries. The retailer’s portfolio includes FMCG, fashion, food, staples, personal care, home essentials, and electronics.

“Online is where the big growth is, especially in urban centers transitioning from e-commerce to quick commerce,” said Shashwat Goenka, Chairman, Spencer’s Retail Ltd.

In the past two quarters, Spencer’s closed over 45 stores in southern and northern India, consolidating its operations to 89 Spencer’s outlets, alongside 34 Nature’s Basket stores and Artisan Pantry locations.

The rise of quick commerce platforms like Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto has reshaped India’s retail landscape, challenging traditional e-commerce and modern trade players. Spencer’s shift to Jiffy reflects its effort to adapt to this evolving market dynamic.
